Key Qualifications:

Mr. Y. Ara is a doctoral candidate in Department of Human System Science, Graduate School of Decision Science and Technology at Tokyo Institute of Technology(TITECH).

Before the entrance to TITECH, he worked as an international development consultant in a consulting firm PADECO. He participated in several projects that focused on Distance Education, E-Learning, ICT and Human Resource Development. For example, for the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), he worked on the “JICA-Net” project, which was a distance-learning network connecting JICA-Net studios in Japan with studios over the world. In the project, he designed, planned and implemented various distance learning programs and multimedia educational materials. He was also involved in the JICA Technical Cooperation Project “Capacity Development of Learning Resource Centers (LRCs) for Science Education Utilizing ICT in Jordan” as an expert responsible for promoting utilization of ICT into science education.

As JICA Expert for ICT Utilization, responsible for promoting utilization of ICT into science education by offering lectures on effective use of ICT equipment in lessons, conducting training courses on practical integration of ICT educational materials into existing materials, and developing ICT-friendly conditions for teachers.
  • Kusatsu-Onsen Tourism Renaissance – Promotion of International Tourism and Communication, Japan (2006-2007), Kusatsu City supported by Japan Ministry of Land Infrastructure and Transportation (MLIT). As Website Planner, responsible for formulating Web-based marketing strategy on revitalization of tourism area by developing an advertising-effective, user-oriented and interactive multilingual website with Search Engine Optimization technology.
  • JICA-Net Distance Learning Producer Project, Worldwide (2006-2007), JICA. As Instructional Designer/Distance Education Producer, responsible for planning, designing and delivering distance learning programs worldwide using videoconferencing systems over the JICA-Net network.
